BBQ

Sometimes names are strange. Here on Valley Street is Salvage BBQ and Smokehouse. It's a new place. I think it opened the end of last summer. My guess is that the name is derived from a small salvage operation that once occupied the premises. It certainly has the look, from the outside, of a small warehouse facility. It has an attractively painted facade facing Congress Street, with four large windows that really reveal a sense of what's going on within. Not a big bbq guy. It's a bit messy for my taste, and I've heard that a diet of it is not all that good for me. So I've been told by a close and personal friend.
But I've glanced at the menu. 
I'd take a chance.

  5. i love bbq if it is not too saucy (i like my ribs dry-rub). i think salvage means they serve up roadkill. :)

  7. It would be nice if they painted the brick side like the pretty side. It would look more inviting. BBQ stuff too messy for me too.

    by the by---I have been 5'2" all my mostly grown up life and now it is 5'3/4" so I said no way--alas so true.

  8. It seems appropriate that you visit the joint to see if it should be rated as a classy bbq joint or just a so-so bbq joint. And if the food was good, you would have salvaged something out of your trip.

  9. I don't think the name alone would entice some people to try the restaurant. Not very appealing, but BBQ is hard to resist, despite the name.
