Storming Tuesday

Happy Birthday wishes going out to my baby sister Joanne out there on the West coast this morning. It was so nice seeing her and Bruce again this Christmas. I miss her very much on her birthday, but I probably miss her the most during winter storms. We had such fun waiting out the snow on that large window seat looking out on Back Bay. Coyle Street fun, family memories.

Here I am walking among the driving snowflakes Tuesday afternoon, just around the corner from One City Center. I had a choice to make, a respite from the weather. My choices were two: a wine bar here on the right or a favorite coffee hangout across the street. Decisions, decisions, decisions. It was around 3:30 PM; I decided on a hot java sitting at a window seat watching the storm go by.
Good choice.

  6. Coffee or tea would have been my choice since I would have still had to find my way home. Hope your sister has a wonderful day!

  7. The java was doubtless the wise decision. It would have been slightly embarrassing to find yourself face down in the snow with a silly grin on your face after drinking too much vino.

Re your comment: Nugent doesn't winter here so far as I know. But, unfortunately there are a lot of nut jobs (your phrase) who would welcome him in this area.

    1. Actually, I saw a funny video online of a fellow who was stone sober doing a face plant in a snow drift. Maybe he had a little too much Java. ;-)

  11. You know how to make the most of an afternoon snowfall. After the java, I would have stopped at Portland Public Library for a good read to bring home for the evening.

  12. Wine can cause a glow but a good cuppa is fast and palpable. Not sure a walk in that snow sounds all that appealing, but you Maine folks are made of sterner stuff.

  14. Happy birthday, Sister! A cuppa would have been the right choice at 3:30. Plenty of time to shift over later.

  15. This is simply beautiful, and your were brave to face the cold. I would have opted for the warm cup as well. (stay warm!)

  18. May your sister enjoy many more Natal Days. Java is a good choice, but a hot toddy sounds pretty good too.
