Hot Rod

This is the guts of a 1923 Ford Model T coupe sitting along side the road seeking a new owner. I'm willing to bet it doesn't quite look like it did when it rolled off the assembly line in the Twenties. However, the Beach Boys would have loved to have put it on one of their album covers in their surfer era. For all you car enthusiasts out there, the 'lil deuce coupe' on the cover of the Beach Boys fourth album was a 1932 Ford Coupe that a 14 year old bought for $75 in the early 60s. It was bought recently for $40,000.
There's still money in hot rods.
Varooooooooom!

  1. Were you thinking of buying? A little something to along with those two jags, maybe? ;-)

I wonder what happens if that spring breaks.

  3. I guess being a pack-rat has some rewards. I like the profit margin.

  4. This picture is reminding me of all the stories my grandmother used to tell me about her adventures in the Model T Roadster her father bought her when she was a girl in the twenties.

  5. So, did you take this home to install it in a proper machine? That would be a great project for you. But why was it sitting alongside the road? Strange. I'd guess your photo probably makes it look better than it actually does.

  6. I always enjoy your stories. Too bad I don't have enough space to keep everything that might be worth something someday! :)

  9. After attending the Barrett-Jackson auto auction a year or so ago, I'm truly amazed at the amount of money some people are willing to spend on cars of all ages.

  10. Rods are cool. I met a guy a few years ago who owns the first ever built in Sweden.

  11. I just saw a beautifully restored 1915 Ford at the gas station today. I'm still trying to figure out how it was that mine looked old and tired next to it. Perhaps it was the paint job, those endless coats of wax, and the pampering it obviously gets. We should all look so good at age 99.
