Power Trip

Power trip? Ever been on one? Me neither. I wouldn't know what to do if I ever found myself on one. Where would I go? Would I need a GPS? Someone once accused me of being controlling and self-centered. I almost fell on my face in laughter. My energy comes from being around good people who radiate positive vibes. If I have power, that's where it comes from. There are days when I feel drained mentally, drained physically and drained emotionally. Thank goodness those days are few and far between, and I seem to be incredibly good at bouncing back. My energy returns quickly. I stay away from energy drinks and caffeine. Catching up on sleep provides no remedy. I wait... till some small piece of my world falls back into place and things begin to rejuvenate themselves. I'm good at it. I can feel it coming back. Within hours, power's back. Lights are on!

  1. Birdman, that is electrifying, and perhaps shocking. Good that bad days are few and far between. May your good days be 60 cycle AC all the way.

  2. I like your text, and it goes so well with todays image. It is 7.33 in the morning here in Stavanger.
    Plenty of rain and dark....
Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us!:)

  3. You are getting very philosophical these days. Great reflective writing. I tend to keep mine more detached and in, what I call, City Daily Photo mode. You give me food for thought.

  4. Your energy comes from inside Patrick.
    Not from powerlines.

    1. You, controlling and self-centered????!!!! As your long-time friend, colleague, and NOW, SISTER-IN-LAW, I can say that you are most definitely NOT controlling and self-centered! You absolutely do like it when we make it "all about you", but, hey, I guess who doesn't? Adds to your charm, right? :-)

    2. Nope. Not controlling or self centered.
I don't even see the "all about you" part.....

      Prince Charming indeed!

  6. I believe the entire universe is made up of energy and as we live, we obtain energy from everyone who is near or around us.
When we were kids do you remember the power line theory that if we threw a rock at the power center at the end of Bishop Street in Portland, Maine, that the power generated would propel the rock back toward us. Wasn't this contrived by the parents so that we would not get into mischief?

    1. I do recall that urban myth. Tried it... didn't happen.

  7. You've taken what could easily be a mundane photo and transformed it into an interesting post with your prose. Hope you're feeling good vibes today!

  9. I can be dog tired but if I find myself with others that have lots of energy or creativity it rejuvenates me as well. And no, I"ve never been on a power trip myself.

  13. Cool post. Yes, power is all around us - positive and negative. It's our job to load up on the positive. :)

  15. You got the right attitude and a great metaphor from the photo to the text. Pick yourself up, dust yourself up and start all over again.

  18. It's a good character trait Birdman, I'm the same but it's not so easy for some.

  19. It appears that most CDP bloggers are birds of a feather regarding the subject of today's post. Charge forward, Birdman. It seems to me that people on "power trips" miss a lot of living along the way.

  20. Someone had to teach me about energy ebbs & flows, that it's natural, so now I can enjoy the down times as well...I never noticed the design of towers until I saw a modern sculpture in a museum that imitated them...

  21. When ever I go help with the school newspaper, I pass that on the bus home. Public transportation is a great way to go!
