Fog Laced

The Ocean Gateway is our  deep-water cruise ship terminal in the city. The large main building is off to right. What we are looking at here, beyond the pilings, is the gangway which stretches off to the left. Its length allows it to service multiple ships at a time. The fog bank on Sunday morning pretty much obscured anything beyond. There are islands, Spring Point Light, and the oil tanks of South Portland that are most visible on a clear day. Like a slow-motion magician's trick, they gradually made their debut for the day soon after the camera did its thing, nonchalantly raising the curtain on another sunny spring day in the Forest City.
Sometimes my mind can seem this foggy.
It always burns off though.

  1. I lived in LA in the late 40s. The smog (fog and smoke) was so bad at times you could not see the stop lights to determine if they were red, yellow, or green. I'm glad that this lifted and you got another nice spring day. You deserve that!

  2. Sunny days are good days, but fog lends a sense of mystery. What a surprise when it dissipates!

  7. You're a funny guy! "Green house" effect, indeed! Did you know that parts of downtown Miami are now 3-4 inches under water during high tide, and that St. Augustine is in real danger as the ocean is coming up through the brick streets? I think we're in deep ca-ca.

  8. We will have to take your word for what is hiding in the fog. If it wasn't for the fog we might be able to see Big Foot.

  13. A very pretty scene. I like fog images, but these days I don't live where fog is common when I am there.

  14. BTW, sorry for few recent visits. Power in Joburg is sketchy and wifi costs. The power is scheduled to go off in an hour and stay off for five hours. Tough to run an economy when the power supply system is broken.
