Bah, Humbug!
Bah, Humbug? It was anything but. Last night, our family took in Portland Stage's production of Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol". With work, the rush, rush to get final shopping done and ideas on the mind on cleaning the house and cooking for our upcoming get-together with family and friends on Christmas afternoon, it was a stress-releasing way to spend 2 hours and really get that feeling of the season. As snow fell leaving the theater, I think I could finally say the the 'feeling of Christmas' seemed to have made an appearance, even in the world, where the dangers of ignorance, want and the need to help others is still so much in evidence.

For me it's getting harder and harder to get into the Christmas spirit because of so many of the earth's woes. I think that I should visit more music and theatre venues as you did to recapture the positive feelings of the season. May the holiday bring you more joy with lots of love and laughter.
ReplyDeleteAh, through those doors dwells another world. . . What a great way to decompress and reinvigorate!
ReplyDelete'A Christmas Carol' was playing at SRQ's performing arts hall last night too! I really wanted to go...but, couldn't work it into my plans. Glad you had a good time. And, what a nice bonus having a light snowfall when you left.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like an evening well spent!
ReplyDeleteI love how Sharon put it. It is like a another world. I'm so thankful there is art and theater.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and I hope you enjoy your time with your family and friends.
The wild snow careening about as we left the theatre was the icing on the cake. Portland does a fantastic job with their Christmas lights and spotting their blurred glows through the snow was so soothing.
ReplyDeleteOn another note...Bob Cratchit has a lot of kids (in the show)... As we were leaving the area in our four wheel drive, three of 'his kids' were running across the street as we were making a turn. Oh no, it would not have been a good thing if we had run over any of Bob Cratchit's kids, two days before Christmas! (or any other days!)
And he thinks he has issues now?
Thanks Birdman and J...
Nice looking entrance. Sounds like it was a great time.

ReplyDeleteGood post, Birdman. I'm glad you are getting into the Christmas spirit. It is such a warm time of the year when we let ourselves relax and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWhat was it that Marley blamed for the first apparition? "A bit of cheese, an underdone potato?" I think. So eat wisely, enjoy your family and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous theater! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good time amidst all the stress. Happy Christmas Eve.
ReplyDeleteSo glad the Christmas spirit found you.
