Ice Season

Little bit of ice , little bit of snow on the back roads can make for some disastrous driving around these parts, but it makes for some fascinating backyard viewing over the next few months. Right now just a few lonesome, brown tattered leaves and an old forgotten caterpillar nest or two, hanging in the balance, are about all that resist against this morning's slate gray sky. So this ice covered green and red serve a comfortable visual purpose. That ol' Mother Nature has her way, whether we like it or not. So sit back and just enjoy!

  1. This is a spectacular photograph, but I can't seem to articulate why--it's all just so . . .so. . .pleasing. I'm sure your other viewers/visitors will be better able to analyze why it is so perfect.

  2. A visual delight. And I'll grant that snow and ice often offer that. But...driving on it, shoveling it, scraping it, freezing in it - no thanks. Been there done that. I think I'll stay in Florida (where, unfortunately, it's been colder than a well digger's you know what of late - which is illegal!) ...

    Have a great weekend.

  4. I'm so glad to know there's another northern blogger out there who looks forward to the beauty of winter...and not just the doldrums.

  6. Good morning! I hope that you slept good through the freezing cold night! When I woke up there was barely any snow, as there is now! I look out my back window and I can still see grass! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

  7. We received a huge pile of snow overnight! I'll be out soon with my snowblower to rid the driveway and sidewalk of 10 inches of snow!

  10. That is a beautiful combination of flowers and snow. We're envious here of everyone who has snow right now.
