House Fallen

This was once a beautiful home right on the water at Stroudwater Village in the city. I always wondered, when passing it, what it would be like seeing the morning sun rising across the river or perhaps taking a little journey in the canoes stacked at the river's edge. The lawn was always perfectly manicured also. However, over the last 10 years or so, it has fallen into disrepair. It is in dire need of someone slappin' a new coat of paint all over. And the main roof... so sad. It's actually falling in on itself. At least that's what it looks like from a distance. It must have some major leaks within. The colorful flowers and wreath do nothing to belie the fact that this once stunning home has seen a few better days.
Someone, please throw this building a lifeline.
It needs some critical care.
It needs a pick-up.

  1. someone still loves it and lives in it to decorate the entrance! i'm kind of surprised, based on your description.

  2. Those repairs would probably be expensive; perhaps the owners are now retired with a careful budget that doesn't allow for major work. I can imagine any scenarios, all involving long-term owners. I like TexWisGirl's comment about the presence of love.

  4. A sad sight! Probably a sad story to go with it.

  5. It seems to me you need to hie down to visit your banker, get a loan and fix up the thing. Then, sell it at twice what you paid for it. Then, move to Florida. And yes, in Ocala there are many mornings when we can use a fireplace!

  6. It is quite sad that this house is living a stressed existence.

  7. Even in it's state the porch is inviting... I've seen places where someone grows elderly and cannot take care of it anymore and I'm always sad there's no one to help them...

  8. We got so many beautiful, derelict buildings that, well, you know.

So, may the best team win. Hope to be there Saturday night.

  9. Perhaps there is a local chapter of Habitat For Humanity that does minor repairs and paints houses with a program called A Brush With Kindness. Someone could contact Habitat to check if this home qualifies as one of their projects.

  10. I don't know about the inside , but someone seems to be caring, those flowers and chair did not come here alone. And the picture is beautyful, the house seems to be an old lady keeping putting on a little make-up to hide its age..
