Thin Lines

Take one for the little guy today.
Stand up for a color that gets no respect.
The afternoon sky was laced with a bit of fog and some light rain, but these stalks of grass stood tall and thin against the sea breeze. I've always been an admirer of late season grasses, as I drive back and forth to work. There are various places along my short trip that make for quick glances at fields waving at me in subtle shades, from dull almost yellows to that dark, recluse pigment. Brown seems like such a dull color. Few sports teams want to take on its hues. It's a tough color to sell. It seldom makes an appearance in million dollar ad campaigns that bombard us daily.  But I type before you this morning and preach to long live the colorant brown in all its tones.
Give brown a second look.
Check it out today on your maneuvers through your world.
Striking, really!

    2. Yeah, and what was your uniform?
Oh yeah, I remember....bell bottoms and a head band.

  3. I'll do just that. Hopefully I'll have as good examples to show you as this one you've photographed. And I'm so happy that you read my entire post today! Thanks, Birdman! Oh, yes, we had a record-breaking wet September. And some rain already in October. The change of the seasons is a comfort.

  4. In your honor I will wear something brown today when I go out to photograph some brown objects in the environment. In addition, I'll stop at the market, after drinking some brown coffee at our local cafe, to buy a brown rotisserie chicken to serve to my darlin' and beautiful brown-eyed granddaughter who is spending the night with us. While cleaning the attic (really just moving "stuff" around) I found an old much-loved brown teddy bear that I will give to her. Three cheers for BROWN!

  13. isn't it odd that sports teams usually don't have brown uniforms? considering how much athletes slip and slide and get all dirtied up, brown seems like a very fitting color.
