Cliche

The word cliche is a favorite of mine. Not the meaning of it. It's just one of the many words in the language (borrowed from French) that I like to say.
"Cliche". I like saying it. "Cliche".
What goes around, comes around.
Time will tell.
All's well that ends well.
As old as the hills.
The writing is on the wall.
Haste makes waste.
Fall head over heals.
All that glitters is not gold.
Laughter is the best medicine.
Read between the lines.

Lobster buoys:
In Maine, this photograph is a cliche.
Do you have a favorite cliche?

  3. Cliché, or not, I think that your string of buoys makes a terrific photo. One of my favorites is all the flag bunting that decorates homes, fences and other spaces on the 4th of July—all over America. Love all your idioms that makes learning and using another language so difficult at times. One my favorites is "happy as a clam!" That should be a good one for your area.

  4. You find this kind of thing in Cedar Key, but they're mostly lobster pots. Or clam paraphernalia. My favorite cliche is: Take a nap, save a life. Actually, I just made that up, but it works for me.

  6. It's a beautiful cliche! I guess you could consider the Buddy Bears around Berlin a bit of a cliche...

  7. Absolutely yes! Just a few: "Non è tutto oro quel che luccica" (All that glitters is not gold), "Chi la fa l'aspetti" (What goes around, comes around), "Tutto è bene quel che finisce bene" (All's well that ends well) ...
