Peach Chair
Let me tell you this about metal chairs. If they have been sitting in the warm sun for awhile, they are wonderful. I know this. I've experimented with them a lot. Back then, my butt wasn't big, but it knew what warmth was and where to find it. My grandparents had two green ones in their backyard, along with their white ceramic ducks. Grampa would put a fresh coat paint on them each spring, and I would head for the chairs each time I visited, especially if the sun was shining. If a thunderstorm beat me to the backyard and if I wasn't careful, I could be in wet-pant trouble. On more than one occasion, it happened!

Very nice photo of a lovely old chair! We had a pair of them growing up and they were always in use, family would use them, neighbors came over and they were always a popular "sit".
ReplyDeleteAnd it will be a really cold sear in teh winter !!!!
ReplyDelete"About the poetry of the metal chairs" ...Only you could write something so cute and illustrate it with such a beautiful orange harmony!
ReplyDeleteNow that's one thing I've never done. I think.
ReplyDeletewe had 3 of those shell-back chairs. fished them out of the pond at our previous place and repainted them. the rust always peeked back through, though. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pastel color...

ReplyDeletewarm in summer but cold in winter
ReplyDeleteSo, you are into the color orange, not pink? That's fine. I think there is plenty of room for both. Thank you for your visit and comment on my blog. I'm more of a fan of wooden lawn chairs than metal myself, unless I'm photographing them. Then the metal ones are a reference to past history.
ReplyDeleteYou made me think of a friend who had a car with heated seats in it. I thought it was a silly idea and until I got in the car one chilly morning for a long drive. What sheer comfort!
ReplyDeleteNice colors, if you like peach. But, you're so right...these darn chairs collect water in the middle indentation. How did you explain you had wet your pants?
ReplyDeleteI do like the color of that chair! Metal chairs are not too popular down here, especially in the summer.
ReplyDeleteThese old chairs are sooo collectible now!
ReplyDeleteMetal chairs remind me of being in the military... hard, uncomfortable, wishing I had a bag of popcorn in the soft, comfy seat of a movie theater :^) But I love your picture!
ReplyDeleteAt last it had the warmest colour I have seen for a while.
ReplyDeleteI used to sit in these on my grandparent's front porch. Especially if it was raining. I always enjoyed a rain storm on the front porch.
ReplyDeleteWet paint! We had those too, in green, and one had a real good rock to it. But we never painted them...
ReplyDeletealways admired these chairs, but didn't know about their magical butt-warming properties.
ReplyDeleteAh, a metal chair leads you to yet more great memories. My grandparents had these, too, in green, on the porch and they were always cold against bare legs, but you dare not whine about it or grandpa would scowl and threaten to get a switch.
ReplyDeleteI love those old chairs.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those old chairs are the greatest.
ReplyDeleteGreat color!

Peachy post Birdman!!
ReplyDeleteLike Sharon's, my grandma's green metal chairs were a backyard fixture...a bit rusted, but always warm in the sunshine and a tad magical in their ability to allow the sitter to rock a bit.
