Pigeon Social

Ten pigeons sunning on a fence (ya, there's one just off the photo), with a bunch crap in the background, doesn't make for any enticing photographic opportunities for me, but I took it anyway. They were just 'sitting on a fence' probably hoping that someone might buy them a Guinness at RiRa's next door. We stopped there Saturday late morning after a Mass that celebrated the passing of my cousin Paul. We raised some Guinness, Smithwicks, Powers and a few Tullamore Dews and remembered a gentle man.  Any Irish bar that has an advertisement that reads: RIVERDANCE My Arse! can't be all bad.
Bet these pigeons would agree.

  2. Reminds me of a poem by Wallace Stevens, "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird." You could write one about "Ten Birds Sunning on a Fence."

  3. Isn't it strange that it's seldom too cold for pigeons to stop pooping all over city buildings and streets?

My sympathy on the passing of your cousin, Paul. One hates to lose good and gentle people!

  5. Sorry to hear about your cousin Paul. Pigeons? Rats with wings. Sounds like a proper Irish Pub with all the right goods to toast Paul's life.

  6. Sorry for your loss! I'm sure he would have enjoyed the toast of Guinness.

  7. A very irish way to say Good Bye . Gathering and singing and drinking, to hide sorrow..

  8. I'm sorry for your loss.

Riverdance My Ass is an entirely appropriate sentiment.

And I suspect the birds are up to something nefarious.
