Owls

I like owls.
We had a barred owl visiting the top of our garage all winter. He was hanging out around our birdfeeders and when the garage lights were glaring... it was dinner time. I had just one regret. He came between 10 PM and midnight. They are after all nocturnal hunters. I wish he'd make a couple of swings by around 10 in the morning. The three fat squirrels would have made quite a repast.
Getting rid squirrels--- is that a bad thing?
Whooosh!

  3. A rare snowy own hit by a bus in the nation's capital was sent to the Raptor Center at the University of Minn, rehabbed and recently released in Superior, Wi at the Wi and MN border. Covered by cable news; a delightful thing to see.

  4. I like owls. I remember once being at my parent's place at night, windows open, and hearing the distinct sound of a woman screaming bloody murder, soaring through the air.

It was, in fact, the screech of an owl.

  5. Owls are just a whole different way of being a bird. They confuse me. The native peoples in Arizona, where we just visited, regard owls as evil or threatening.

  10. When I went for a walk at the garden last Friday morning I heard some very loud and angry birds carrying on in one corner of the garden. I started watching closely and suddenly a big owl came flying out of the tree. There must have been a smaller bird's nest up there and they were protesting the presence of that owl very loudly.
