They call it the Candelabra Tree on the edge of the Oaks near the Post Office. And yes, during the holiday season, it's fully decorated with latest Pandora LaCasse creations. For me though, the word candelabra can only conjure up those 15 minute interludes in afternoons watching with Mom those amazing fingers of Wladziu Valentino Liberace or just plain Liberace. Mom loved the piano, and she loved Liberace! We'd sit entranced for those few minutes each afternoon (from 2- 2:15 as I remember) waiting for the shot of his candelabra to appear and his rapid-paced playing that cued the beginning of his show. Liberace was popular here too - am learning the piano myself and am only about 100 light years away from being as good!

ReplyDeleteNot long ago, I was telling a 30-something that many TV shows, including the evening news, were only 15 minutes long. Could tell they didn't quite believe me. When the news did go to half an hour, people scoffed and wondered what on earth they would do to fill that much time.
