Coffee Found

I like coffee. THAT would be a fact. When I found this package of vanilla biscotti on a window sill yesterday, I got to thinking. What does what we drink say about us? Do you prefer the plain old 8 O'Clock or Maxwell House blends, or do you tend to take chances with flavored choices? Do you clean up at work after pouring your chai or java or leave traces behind for others? Dirty cups in the sink with silverware left in a rush? Who are these people? I might track them down. You see, I might just make a pretty good detective. I could solve mysteries. Not big, attention grabbing numbers like murder, but the small important ones, like who's a slob and leaves a dirty sink and who is neat and cleans up. I got to watching "Anatomy of a Murder" last night and just couldn't walk away. Many call it the best courtroom drama ever. Now, I really don't know about that, but I was amazed at Jimmy Stewart's technique of firing questions and not waiting around for answers. Just the fact that the jury heard the questions was enough. Let's see, I might call the cups and silver left behind... The Big Sink or something. I'm going to think about this some more... over another cup of Pumpkin Spice.

  1. Coffee seems to be a deep subject today. I'm definitely the kind who keeps the place neat. I hate it when you have to lean up after others.

  7. Did you notice you were sort of rambling around this morning talking about coffee and blends and murders and dirty sinks ... perhaps you had one too javas?

  8. Well no one can blame me for that dirty sink business. I don't drink coffee at all. I take my cup of ice water to work with me in the morning and take it home at night. My co-workers can't figure out how I can start my day without the coffee and I can't figure out how anyone can start their day with that bitter juice. Different strokes...

  10. I like my coffee in the morning and sometimes after dinner. I grind my own using Boston Stokers (local roaster) or Caribou or Saxby's, all whole bean. I use to use mixed blends, a favorite was chocolate/raspberry but mainly Highlander Grog. I have Pumpkin Spice in a sealed container that I am finding hard to use up. Happens every year at this time. Bottom line, I like my coffee and I always clean up.

  11. i love the smell of flavored coffees but don't like to drink them. give me plain folgers, thank you, with a splash of milk.

as for slobs at work? 20 lashes!

  12. You know when you drink your coffee out of those big mugs, you are getting about two cups instead of just one. I have a little four cup Mr. Coffee and I get a mug and a half out of that. A good start to the day. I use Folgers Hazelnut and like it very much.

I am retired so its me to clean up because there is no one else!

    Cheers,
    Jo

  14. For us coffee is an espresso, and the only idea of sipping it is quite funny. Love that movie, I saw it again a few weeks ago!

  15. Great topic. I'm addicted to half espresso half french Roast (Pete's) with half and half. Has to be in the cup I got from Pier 1 with the passion flower design or the coffee doesn't taste right.

  19. I don't drink it that often and when I do it's usually a skinny latte at Starbucks.

  20. Oh yes, I love good coffee. It is hard to find decent coffee here on the prairie, so I have to roast my own. That way it is always fresh. But I don't care for cleaning up the cups or sink, so I'm the slob. Interesting post.

  22. I always bought Starbucks and Pete's, ground it myself, and couldn't understand why my coffee was practically undrinkable. Then a friend told me that Cook's Illustrated recommended Maxwell House. Haven't had a bad cup since.

  23. I like a good, rich French Roast. No flavors for me, and I avoid flavored creamers....cream, yes, hold the vanilla or Amaretto!

  24. Plain black coffee. It has to be good coffee, like Starbucks or Dunkin, but nothing in it. No milk, no sugar, no flavors, nothing described in faux francais.

And I do clean up. Almost obsessively. It is a character flaw.
