a past time. my maine backyard and beyond...
Beautiful Photo. What can I say about the Flag......well to start the original colors of the Irish flag were green, white and gold. The entire Irish community can thank William of Orange for invading the Emerald Isles yet again and determined that the flag was not quite cool enough for him so he decided that orange should replace gold as a more appropriate color. My dad used to watch the Notre Dame football games on TV every Saturday and I always was confused as to why their school colors were green white and gold (not orange). I never questioned it until I visited this interesting country and listened to the historians (oldest priests and nuns)with their many stories and recounts of different family histories, always our first stop in any small town throughout the countryside. Long live the Irish. Thanks Birdman for once again inspiring me with your excellent photography.
What a crisp shot. What an appropriate choice for today. I sure could go for a pizza at the Flatbread Company.
Happy St Pattys Day to you!
