"The festival's goal is to encourage a dialogue between authors and readers through programs that feature readings, performances, parties and panel discussions." A weekend with books and parties? I could really go for that. I had a memory jolt this afternoon. Remember Bookmobiles? There used to be one that weekly came through our neighborhood and parked for an hour or so. We raced to the door and scrambled on board. All you needed was your library card and you could take a book for a week. At the end of the hour the 'library' was gone, and all that was left was some gassy exhaust. These mobile libraries still exist in some cities. I've seen pictures. A kid. A card. A book. What a life!

ReplyDeleteI'm with you...have loved books all my life. Not so with some people. I would enjoy an event like this very much. If it wasn't too "bookish." :-)
ReplyDeleteAs I like to read good books, I'm sure I would love visit this book Festival there!

Some towns in KY still have bookmobiles. I imagine it would be a delight for a child to climb aboard and peruse the shelves -- barbara
ReplyDeleteOur librarians have been on strike and just went back to work today! It was a real hardship having the libraries closed for about 12 days!
ReplyDeleteLooks like my kind of event.
ReplyDeleteWe had a bookmobile until just recently.
