Red 200

This is the red tractor that was lurking in the shadows yesterday. It's for sale on a lot I pass heading into the city. It looks like it just got a brand new paint job too. It's RED all over. I mean all over.  Everything is covered from the seat to all engine parts. Now, when it comes to working on engines, I'm like Sgt. Shultz of Hogan's Heroes, "I see nothing." or as I like to say to all who will listen "I KNOW nothing." But I must have to alter that at this point. Painting a complete engine with red paint can't be good for this tractor. So, my guess is this is not going to be bought to work the fields but to stand as a lawn ornament. You know like a birdbath, a colorful, spinning whirligig, a mother duck with her ducklings following or one of those large blue globes. I'm not a big lawn ornament fan, you know. As a matter of fact, all I want to see on my front lawn is green grass. Not whirligigs, ceramic animals or even a life size red tractor.
What's your pleasure?

  1. I actually bought a tractor two years ago. A grey 'fergie'. Vintage 1952. I love it.

  5. i'd prefer a working tractor, myself. which is why we don't own one - we're not mechanically inclined so could never keep it running!

  6. Really like this shot. The angle looking down, along with the color, pulls me in. We live in a condo townhouse so we just have a little green strip in front. The geegaws are reserved for my office. I got three little toy Buddhas, a postcard portrait of Eva Peron and model of the Atomium in Brussels.

  7. Great shot as was the shadow yesterday. We're with you; we may know nothing, but can't imagine painting the engine like this is a good think. Definitely a lawn ornament.

  8. I like lawn ornaments but believe less is more. As a matter of fact I have posted garden ornaments today.

A neighbor a couple blocks away has way too many ornament for the eye and every time I walk past I want to leave a note asking for less.....

  17. I'm right there with you on this one Birdman. No lawn ornaments for me. About a year ago (or so) I posted a photo of a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright house I found near where I work. I successfully cropped out the military tank that was parked in the front yard. I mean, who puts a tank in front of a Frank Lloyd Wright house?

  18. Oh wow that would be some 'lawn ornament'!! The only thing I like out front is a big birdbath (two at the back), someone's got to make sure the birds have water!! Excellent shadow shot yesterday Birdman.
