Cold Dunes

These are the dunes just off West Grand Avenue near Old Orchard Beach. I was here a week or so ago, as a cold, biting wind blew. The shoreline was pretty deserted, with even the sun playing its game of hide-and- seek. Although the ocean was calm this day, a visit to here in early spring or winter usually gets me thinking of one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes (Marine Biologist) and George Costanza lines, "The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to return soup at a deli!" I'm chuckling even now as I write it. Hahahaha!
Got a favorite episode?

  6. The Hamptons...
    Jerry/ George Costanza: Elaine!
Jerry: Do women know about shrinkage?
Elaine: What do you mean like laundry?
Jerry: No, like when a man goes swimming afterwards.
    Elaine: It shrinks?
    Jerry: Like a frightened turtle!
    Elaine: Why does it shrink?
    George Costanza: It just does.
Elaine: I don't know how you guys walk around with those things.

  8. The color contrast is beautiful in this photo and I can almost see the grasses blowing in the very cold wind!

Favorite episode? Very hard to choose, but "the Contest" was probably it with the "fake, fake, fake, fake" from Elaine and Kramer slapping down his money saying "I'm out"

How about George falling on the floor (pants down) episode or the time Jerry could not remember the girl's unusual name - hahahaha! Thanks for the memories today.

  10. I liked the "Mulva" name-guessing episode but also the Keith Hernandez episode with the whole grassy knoll spit story - "that was one magic loogie". I liked so many - great show!

  11. Wow, how nice! Didn't expect dunes in Maine, but after all, I don't know much about Maine except what I learn from your blog! It's beautiful (and seems darn cold... :).
    God bless you!

  15. Hey, could be prairie grass out here except, um, we don't have an ocean (but then you don't have a prairie). I really enjoy wild grasses. Wish there were more places where they were preserved.
