What places do you seek out that give you solace and creativity in this go-go world we live in? This week I'll show you some hangouts of mine that help me get my creative juices flowing. Believe it or not, I do some of my best thinking in the front seat of my truck, going here and there. Most times traveling just lets me sort of clear the air, set things straight in my mind of where I'm going and what's my best plan of 'attack'. At other times, my creative ideas seem to jump from a story or a song streaming from my radio or cd player. Lastly, when all else fails, it's that quiet oasis to just get away and be alone with my thoughts.
Best wishes to my good friend and bff 'annie's mom' on her B-day!
... and Happy Patriots Day!
I am excited to see your thinking places. :)
ReplyDeleteI like wandering the streets and looking around. Or sitting in a nice park.
It's funny how doing this blog, Birdman, has 'forced' you to get into your car and cruise around a lot more than previously, which I know you enjoy. The result has been fantastic photographs and wonderful prose. I look forward to your blog every morning.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Annie's Mom!!!!!
If you're like me, thinking while driving often leads to a missed turn, which then leads to a new adventure. I think I'll come along for the ride if that's okay.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elenka and Birdman, for the b'day wishes! Birdman, you are joining us tonight, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, ditto what Elenka said - the photos are prose are something that I also look forward to each day! :-)
Good to hear that driving inspires you. I do the same thing. Many times I'll just get in the car with no particular destination in mind and just see where the road takes me. I've gotten some interesting photos doing just that.
ReplyDeleteI like the fotoshop sign off to the left. I have tried to get some interesting shots out the front window of my vehicle only to see what you see here......signs. Not the businesses, those I like. It's the don't do this and don't do that. They interrupt the view.
ReplyDeleteFunky photo...so you're one of those guys driving along in his picky-up, meandering 'round the road with glazed-over eyes! Sheesh! I always wondered what those guys were doing.
ReplyDeleteI no longer have a picky-up so I can't do that no more.
But, hey, whatever clears your head.
You prob'ly need to play more golfs. I did get a "new" set of Big Bertha forged irons...new to me. Couldn't afford a really new set. They work pretty good.
I like going for walks. It always clears my head and helps me put things in perspective. I also like the exercise!
ReplyDeleteMind works in some strange way.
ReplyDeleteAnd at different times and places.
Driving.. relaxes and cleanses me of stress and pressure.
Have a great week.
Costas
I sometimes feel same about that in driving. But in my case, in a crowded Indian city, I dont have much chance to think. I have to watch for the cows, bikes and people carelessly crossing street.
ReplyDeleteDriving does it for me too and I need to get to it. I am having a creative dry spell and I have a project due for a class in a few weeks. I need a creativity jump start to the head.
ReplyDeleteWe all have our quiet places, and I'll have to ruminate a bit to determine where I get energized.
ReplyDeleteI think that an interesting walk does it for me - I used to love heading out for a rambling tour with my wonder dog but unfortunately I have lost that companion. I too look forward to your posts every day!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lois...
ReplyDeleteI like going for walks.too It always clears my head....
I understand the feeling, it is quite familiar...
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing some of your thinking places.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be an interesting tour, Birdman. I really enjoyed the comments you got today, including from Elenka and Annie's Mom. For me, I am a walker, and sometimes a cyclist, not a driver. But creativity just happens or it doesn't, I have no secret for how to stimulate it.
ReplyDeleteI used to do a lot of thinking behind the wheel too. Until, of course, some chucklehead would cut me off and subsequently hurl me into a completely different state of mind.
