Beach Scene

Maine is the Pine Tree state and our pines are found in all states and fashion. I took a ride to Ferry Beach yesterday and walked along the dunes. These pines are weathered greatly by the winds and salt air. I like the asymmetrical look to them and their little pine cones hanging against the elements.

  1. Hmmm, I can identify with your pine trees then.

    They are survivors.
BTW, Israel could be the second pine tree state, we have so many planted pines covering the hills.

  2. Look like they've been through a war or two. Sort of like some of our palm trees after they've been buffeted by years of strong gales.

    Have a super weekend!

  3. Great shot. Don't you love what a stiff breeze can do to change the landscape. Happy Easter.

  4. Love that scene. . .
    P. S. Daughter and family hoping to move to Maine soon - Camden - and if they do that, we may be there more often.

  6. They seem to adapt beautifully in spite of the elements.

  7. I really like this photo when clicked on and enlarged, how the trees frame the grasses and the water. Cool.

By the way, that was 666 pounds of doughnuts--total count, 3,880 actual doughnuts. I didn't get a bite because I did not go to the Brunch on the Bridge. Voodoo's owners gave them away to around 1400 people in 45 minutes.

  8. Nice shot.

Pine trees are survivors. When I was in Florida recently, I went to a hammock area and the guide told us that when there's a fire, the pine trees come back stronger. The heat makes pine cones burst open and distribute the seeds. The ash is a fertilizer. I love pine trees.

  10. If I remember correctly the slogan on Maine's license plates is Vacationland. I've always thought it should be Excess Of Trees.
