Low Tide

This is a long shot looking across Back Bay at low tide towards the Hill and East End Community School on North Street. It's a relatively new school built on the location of the old Jack Junior High School. In high school, I played Freshman football and our first game was played on a field up there. We played the Jack Junior team, and I remember lost a close game. I wore number 88 in purple and gold and spent most of that first game walking the sidelines. We played about 6 games that year and lost most of them, but really enjoyed practices, bus rides and the lockerroom camaraderie. I think I learned quite a bit in my short-lived life as a football player. So, in review... low tide but not a low time.

  1. Love the low tide.
I've just heard there's an alert lever on all our coast today because of big waves. I'm going to the beach now to see what's happening down there.

  4. Hey, got your note. I'd be staying in Portland on the night of Saturday, 7/28, then up to Rockport the next day. If you feel like it, reply by direct email (there's a link on my profile) and then I'll have your address.

    More later.

  5. Many years ago on trip to Maine, I was walking on a beach as the tide went out. It was an amazing sight to see for the desert dweller. It was like the ocean was shrinking.

  8. 'They' say it's in the playing and not the winning of the game that's important Birdman, I'm not sure if 'they're' right about that!!

  9. I think the tide went out and left behind some cool memories. At this point in your life, I'd say take the ball and run with it!

  12. Didn't play football but both of us went to Jesuit high schools. Football was a big deal. I was in the first class to lose the Thanksgiving game to our big rivals four years in a row. So it goes.

  14. High school memories can be both downers or uppers. Your football memories fall into a positive category and fun to read.
