Three Faces

Yesterday morning I heard somewhere that today was going to be some sort of kindness day. I checked it out but found nothing about a celebration. It seems everywhere you turn these days you'll see a bumper sticker or hear someone note about how nice it would be to participate in a 'random' act to this end. Mom taught me a simple adage: be kind to others (now, this includes animals), and they'll be kind to you. I try to follow it everyday in my own way. Although I must admit, I have been bitten by dogs, but for the most part it has served me well. I meet many kind faces in my daily travels, and I'm sure today will follow that pattern. So, smile today... I hear it's a very good thing, and I bet you could find one of those weird studies that would tell you it's healthy too. Grin!

  3. Ah, wise words, Birdman. Guess many of us are on the same page. Yesterday at the end of the Easter service, the young priest at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Savannah, Ga reminded us that this entire week is still Easter Week and that we should do something nice for ourselves and others. I'm smiling now at your suggestion and will pass on your message along with the one I heard at church.

  4. I read a touching story in my morning paper yesterday. A photographer from Sweden found himself in a very poor and war struck region in an African land. Children were dying around him. He was supposed to take photos, but was afraid to upset the locals. It was a horrible situation for everyone. Suddenly he decided to smile and say Hello Everybody! Everyone in the room started to laugh and he spent a long time there talking to the people and eventually he got to work with his camera.

  5. You have a wonderful mother! My parents taught me the same thing, too. And the smiles in the portraits are fabulous. What a great wall :D

  9. Okay, BM, how much did you pay Elenka to write those words? ;-)

The spirit of kindness seems sorely lacking these days. Lots of cranky people. And we've got more "stuff" than ever. So maybe our stuff ain't what we need.

    I'll smile if you will.

  12. I really like this idea. We have a similar ad campaign in Canada. They have some really funny commercials and billboards. I definitely think the world would be a better place if we could just be a little kinder.

  17. Great color and design. Your mother's advice works most but not all of the time. There are some mean, crazy and dangerous people out there. Yes, be kind, but always keep your eyes open.
