This is another of the tanks that overlook the city from its South Portland home. Five or so of these have been painted by a commissioned artist, but this is one of the many that have been left to look out for themselves. To tell you the truth, I kind of like rusty look of this one with its steps leading up almost endlessly, then nothingness. I feel that way at work... sometimes. Ah, I hear the familiar piano cords of the MPR musical lead-in off in the kitchen. Just the recipe for a lazy, rainy, spring Sunday morning.

  1. Before I read your words, my first thought was I like the rust - so snap.

Kitty arrives on Friday...! So looking forward to it.

  2. I like the rusty look too. :) What a huge "canvas" to paint, though!

  4. Let's hope the rust is just on the surface. I like these babies to be REAL tight.

  10. Yes, the rust is appealing in a creative sort of way. The steps look fairly daunting!

  11. Focus, Birdman, focus! You're putting up a post no matter what's going on in the kitchen! Jeez!

In Ocala, golf carts are used extensively on the horse farms/ranches as they're an inexpensive way to get around. This photo was taken at the HITS show and I think the father and daughters were moving the horse to one of the barns set up on site.

I really doubt you sometimes hit a golf ball like a horse's ass. But I have seen a lot of the latter on golf courses I've played. You've heard about the guy who couldn't get a date, so he went to a doctor...oops, never mind...

  12. Love those stairs! We are having a crazy spring day - sun, then cloud then rain, then snow, .... repeated over and over with lots of wind.

  13. Ooo a blank canvas! Maybe they could incorporate the rust should they decide to paint it.
