Maine Course

This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago at the Maine State Pier, next to Casco Bay Lines. This shrink-wrapped sailboat was still waiting out the vacillating Maine winter storm schedule. Most smaller boats are taken out of the water over the winter months; however, lots remain right at their moorings, shrink-wrapped or not, to wait out spring. On the weather front: it's snow in the western mountains tonight, but around here it'll be all rain, a sure sign of spring.

  2. Now I'm envisioning a shrink-wrapped person, avoiding the winter. . .

  3. Interesting photo and commentary. Rain is probably better than snow at this point. Means the weather's warmer. I think you need a Florida break!

Re your comment about the Easter bunny: O ye of little faith! I'm surprised. You must hear the Truth! Please go to the following link where you can read The Gospel of the Easter Bunny and have your faith renewed!

  4. Glad to hear you are getting more spring-like weather even if it is a bit soggy.
To answer you question on my site, no, it's one big house.

  5. Sounds like spring is right around the corner for you! Your wife will definitely see some green when she gets down here. It has been especially vibrant this year for some reason! I hope her flights are not delayed by the storms though. We had a violent one here this morning and my power was out for about 5 hours.

  7. They do that on the various marinas around here too.

Love the hay wagon at the ready and the colorful boots are crazy. My daughter has a green with yellow polka dotted pair . MB

  8. A shrink-wrapped sailboat is something new to me. I have seen large motor yacht wrapped while under construction, but never a sailboat! Different weather, I presume...

  9. I would like to be shrink-wrapped for the winter. Rain and windy here too but the grass is turning green.

  10. I had no idea about the shrink wrapping. Nice over all shot. I like the sign too.

  11. Fantastic shot! I was just imaging how would they wrap a big cruise ship. Cruise ships are like migrating birds and these small sailing boats are like local birds who are stuck in the same place in winter.

  12. An irresistible pun. We got some stuff int St. Louis that ought to be permanently shrink-wrapped.
