Pick-ups

Caught at rest in a parking lot nearby was this vintage faded, cream pick-up with its silver handle and slightly beat up gas cap. I bought a pick-up new once. Drove it around for a couple of years. It wasn't me. But I bet I could stand this classic sitting in my driveway, with the sun shinning off it this morning. This got me to thinking. You know how I can do that.Know where I'm going with this? Sit tight. Pick-up trucks, and I jump to pick-up lines. You know what I mean. Speaking of some classics... What's your sign? Do you come here often? Can I buy you a drink? Do you know who I am? What's your major? Wanna date my brother? What's your favorite Beatles song? Need a plumber? You a Sox fan? Ever climbed Everest? Don't I know you? But I am a doctor!

Ever use one( come on, don't lie to me this morning)? Ever had a good one thrown in your direction, no matter how far back? I had one used on me once, and it worked. "Wanna go look at the beavers?" REALLY! I kid you not!
Gotta a classic? How about ridiculous? Feel brave? Share?

  2. I was never much good with pickup lines but I know a good story about one. When I was a student at Oklahoma State back in the early 1960's I was sitting with some friends on the terrace of the student union drinking a coke and one of the guys got up and asked a girl to dance with him. They slow danced for a minute or so then the girl stepped back and slapped the snot out of him. She left and he came back over and sat down. We asked him what happened and he said he asked her if she wanted to screw. We were sort of shocked that he would be so bold but he gave us a sly look and said maybe 1 out of 10 girls would take him up on it - good odds he said. This was pre-Woodstock and not many guys would have done that. I really didn't know the guy and figured he was full of it but I always wondered.

  5. Some classics there Birdman. As for me if I had a dollar for every time some one started singing 'Amazing Grace' (me: Grace) when introduced I'd be a rich woman today haha!!

  8. My very own DH said, "Stick with me, baby, we'll go places!" We met in Minneapolis, lived briefly in Chicago, and settled for the past years (50th coming up soon) in St. Paul, his hometown. So much for pick-up lines!!

  17. hmmmm, can't say as i've ever used one or had one used on me before but your beaver line reminded me of when my husband was working for this rv dealership and one of the sales ladies wore a pin that said "ask me about my beaver" lol...referring to the make "beaver" but it still cracks me up!

    great photo!

  18. I was (am) too ugly. No line would help.

  19. I was too shy, still am. I usually sat back and laughed at my friends as they were shut down by the unsuspecting victim.
