Ever bought anything at a pawn shop? I never have. Then again, there are many things I've never done, places I've not entered and don't plan on touching in the near future. There are a couple of these shops in the city. This one's at Woodfords Corner. It gets a lot of vehicle traffic daily, but I don't know how many pull over and walk through the door. A few years ago, I read a story about how there was going to be an explosion of pawn shops given the economic times. I don't know about where you hang out, but around here it never happened. In high school there was a kid whose dad ran the only one in town. Many years later, there are now just a couple.
Quite an explosion!
I do enjoy that 'reality show' on cable, Pawn Stars.
It's the closest I'm going to get to a pawn shop.
I find it hilarious at times.
What a family!
It is a sector of the world that we are both fortunately spared.
ReplyDeleteReminds of Charles Dickens. I think there is one in all of Norway.
ReplyDeletePawn shops hold no appeal for me.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy Pawn Stars, too. There is so much interesting information about the items that come into the shop and the back story of the personalities is fun to watch, too. What I really like about this, the only "reality" show we watch is the people are not truly nasty to each other. The teasing is funny and it is obvious they all do like each other very much.
ReplyDeletei've been in several and i think my niece and nephew may have bought some dvds in one. i don't like all the aisles of misc. tools you always find in them.
ReplyDeleteNope, it never happened here either and I've never been inside one. There is big one located not far from me. I should post a photo of it one of these days.
ReplyDeleteNo. I hope I never have to. I went inside one in Montana and I hated it.
ReplyDeleteI've never been in one either. I have noticed more of those 'Cash' stores around the last few years.
ReplyDeleteThere is a pawn shop in our town, but since I don't buy guns or guitars there is little reason to go into it. I've watched Pawn Stars also, and the stuff that comes in the door is often too rare to be believed. I suspect it is a scripted show, not "reality."
ReplyDeleteI've been inside of one once. Can't remember what I was looking for.
ReplyDeleteI've only bought one item and that was an almost brand new fully loaded HP laptop computer. Went in to look at musical instruments and came out with the HP. Some guy from Cleveland had it but was maxed out on credit cards according to the Pawn Broker. I found every kind of credit card link on the computer when I opened it to clean it out. AC connection went bad, tried to get it apart to see if I could fix it.....bought a new laptop and junked to HP. Paid 1/2 price of a new one that was a month or so old. Lasted 4 yrs. May have lasted longer if I hadn't touched it.
