I just took this photograph.
We got 5-6 inches last night. It started about 6 and was all over by midnight. It's the wet, sticky stuff that my snowblower really dislikes, especially the crap that get piled up at the end of my driveway by the town plows. All this snow has got me thinking about the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Notice, I said 'thinking' not getting excited, at all. You might catch me watching a bit of ice hockey, maybe some downhill skiing or toboggan runs, that's going to be the extent of it. Elenka, if past Olympics can be a measuring stick, will constantly have the TV on watching the opening and closing ceremonies, figure skating or anything else that might catch her fancy. My guess is that it will also be the 'white noise' that will fill our family room while she is maneuvering around Pinterest.
Do you plan to watch some?
What might peak your interest?
Women, in tiny snow outfits, don't count.
Love it! The photo, not necessarily the women in tiny snow outfits or the Winter Olympics, although I might enjoy the downhill skiing, bobsledding, and tobogganing.
ReplyDelete:-)
it's beautiful. glad i don't have to shovel.
ReplyDeleteYour photo shows a magical snow land. I don't watch much Olympics at all. Maybe just opening and closing ceremonies and occasionally some figure skating. But, I don't go out of my way.
ReplyDeleteI dislike the wet sticky stuff too...I didn't even know it was Olympic time, no TV. However, it was the figure skating I always loved. In my next life I'm going to be one, you know. The tree on the right looks like it's stretching in some sort of yoga pose!
ReplyDeleteThose trees look heavy laden.
ReplyDeleteI will probably be watching the news more than the sporting events, and hoping that all goes well with Olympics security. The two suicide bomber acts in Volgograd (ex Stalingrad) in the last two days were meant to raise fear about the Winter Olympics games in Sochi, they say.
I rather like the toboggan run and the curling - not interested in the skiing
ReplyDeleteExcellent shot, truly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNot into the Winter Olympics much but might watch some of it...love this shot, though. It's a beautiful winter scene and you should frame it and hang it.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Florida. It was in the low 50s this morning and I was on the golf course. With a brisk breeze I froze my bunnies off! Ugh! But it will warm up. It's 72 plus now.
I love all the events and we get almost 24 hour coverage of it up here so you don't have to miss anything. I'll be watching hockey for sure!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous image, I love the restrained color palette!
ReplyDeleteThis year's Olympic Games in Sochi worry me, after the latest events in Russia. I may watch a few ski races, depending on the time of day, but I am generally not very fond of sports on TV.
A Happy New Year to you and yours,
Merisi
Snow can be beautiful, especially in pictures viewed in a warm room. Like your photo here. Will watch some of the Olympics, especially the downhill skiings and ski jumping. I use to be a skier, but far from Olympic abilities. Fantasy can be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove this photo: the arching tree, the red birdhouse and cabin, the sun creeping over the top. As for the Olympics --don't watch much, if any. Makes me jumpy to watch competitive events: will someone get hurt? Wreck? Fall?
ReplyDeleteThe winter scene is beautiful, even if the snow was piled in the driveway. I like watching hockey and figure skating, but I wonder about some of the things that are called sports in these Olympics.
ReplyDeleteNo, not any. I got more satisfying things to do than watch TV.
ReplyDeleteI'm struck by how totally different the scenes are in your and Steffe's posts.
Oh that's not fair. We will be happy to take that snow off your hands.
ReplyDeleteYou had nice light for this photo. Winter Olympics? At this point, my interest is low, but we will see . . .
ReplyDeleteI am glad we haven't had snow yet this year. Although I must admit, it is nice to look at!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful time ringing in the New Year this evening!
Hockey, skiing and bobsledding.
