On Stage

We attended a performance of "God of Carnage" at Portland Stage Company last evening. It was an enjoyable, fast-pased hour and a half. In the family dynamics of things, do we really still think that it's the kids that are screwed up? This 'sandbox' scene reminded all in the audience that, for the most part, the 'kids are alright', and it's the adults that need some fine tuning of life skills. Good show!

  1. Good show, indeed. The 'sandbox' was literal, a living room with the floor made out of sand. I couldn't figure it out 'til Birdman helped me with the analogy. Wise ol' bird.

  4. I have not heard of this show, but I think I would like it a lot. The thing is, I hate getting sand in my shoes!

  5. I read the following quote in a book recently and liked it so much I wrote it down and saved it.

"It is a timeless mystery why adults who have made such a grand endeavor of messing up the world are so doubtful of the merits of youth. It seems each aging generation is determined to treat the next with a certain amount of suspicion and contempt." – Bob Perry, The Broken Statue

  6. As a kid in school I would often hear from adults that "you are the future" and I would think to myself "and what the heck are you doing presently?"...
    God bless you!

  7. This isn't a play that I know. Birdman, maybe we ALL are screwed up. Kids, teens, young adults, boomers, old fogies. All of us.

  8. I remember thinking about the youth of yesteryear and wondered what they did that has been forgotten.
