Over the River...
Yesterday afternoon, we went to see the movie The Way again. It's the story of a man who comes face to face with the greatest challenge of his life and ends up walking the Camino de Santiago, also known as the The Way of Saint James and ends up finding 'his way'. Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks, family, football and, of course, food. I always take it for a time to reflect. Where am I? Where am I going? There's a wonderful quote in the movie that speaks to this for me. A son corrects his Dad saying, "You don't choose your life... you live your life." For me, I'll be reflecting on this today. Find your 'way' and live it!

beau melange couleur automne et neige
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling about it. I think I should see "The Way." I still dream of walking the Camino but this movie might be the closest I get to the pilgrim way.
ReplyDeleteA blessed and reflective Thanksgiving to you, Birdman.
Looks like your autumn has gone straight to winter! Brrrr...
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with this movie and just might have to watch it. Have a great Thanksgiving day!
ReplyDeleteWho is this?
ReplyDeleteI don't know anyone that would put football before food.....not even you!
BTW, YOU are what I am thankful for.
Really....:-)
Sounds like a good movie. I had not heard of it. I love the quote. I've heard it said and I agree that you can determine what your values are by looking at how you spend your time and money.
ReplyDeleteHave a good Thanksgiving!
It is a great movie!
ReplyDeleteMovie is added to my list of must sees. Happy Thanksgiving Birdman!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to Elenka and yourself Birdman, sounds like you have a great weekend planned. Love the frosty white images, can't even imagine what it must be like when it's 37C here, crazy!!
ReplyDeleteLive your life -- with a turkey drum in one hand and a remote control in the other (at least for today).
ReplyDeletethanks for the movie tip. enjoy your day today!
ReplyDeleteThe minute I opened your site and read your title I was transported back to my childhood. My grandfather taught me that "Over the River and through the woods" poem and he used to recite it with my sisters and me every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the movie tip. Have a wonderful day!
Hoping you and yours have an equally enjoyable celebration today with your family and friends that I will with mine!
ReplyDeletep. s. There are some interesting reviews of this film on amazon.com You might enjoy them. I was hoping to order the dvd but see that it isn't out until Feb.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how you'll have time for reflection with all the family, football and food... er... family, food and football. But the thought "You don't choose your life... you live your life" is worthy of a good debate with bubbly... sorry I'll miss it... but not sorry to miss your winter... BRRR. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteHappy turkey day, Birdman.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that movie was good!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you Birdman.
re: the Slovak translation on Walk Two Moons - when I plugged it into google translator, it came up 'Taste Raspberry Kiss,' which made me laff and laff. There IS mention of a 'blueberry kiss' in the novel, but still . . . I'm so glad you mentioned Elenka's puzzlement, or I never would have known that it didn't say, simply, Walk Two Moons!
ReplyDeleteWonderful thoughts and I will add that movie to my "must see" list. Happy chilly Thanksgiving, Mr. Bird!
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
