Eyes

"I have my eyes on you." These eyes stare out from the upper levels of the Maine College of Art on Free Street. They are kind of creepy too, if you ask me. By the way, I can watch most things once, even sad movies that are quite emotional, but videos showing eye surgery are very uncomfortable for me to watch. I have to turn away and refocus. In fact, before I had my heart surgery, my brother sent me a link to the actual procedure. I tried to watch, but after less then a minute, I had to shut 'er down. It was extremely difficult to view. Mom would call me squeemy. When it comes to watching stuff like this, I guess I'm guilty as charged.

  1. de grands yeux ouvert vers le monde, cela me fait penser a une exposition dans le Brooklyn du photographe français JR

    1. Hmmm . . . I cannot believe that "spleeny-boy", aka your brother, actually viewed the heart surgery clip before he sent it to you!!

those eyes today are very intrusive and inquisitive, a kind of "1984"?..

  10. Ah, yes... the eyes of Dr. Ekelberg in The Great Gatsby come to mind as Sharon suggested... or, perhaps it is TS Eliot's "The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock"

I agree with you about the sensitivity of the eyes.

  11. You have one weird bro, Bird. I don't get squeemy watching surgery videos because I don't watch surgery videos. Isn't there anything better to do up there, Bird?

  12. Those eyes look like they belong to an elephant with all the sag lines around it or maybe like one comment mentioned Big Brother -- barbara

  13. Do those eyes follow you as you walk down the street? That would be really scary. I've had eye surgery (last year) and I watched while it was being done. Ok, that's not actually true, but I was awake and my eyes were open and the doctor was cracking some really old, bad jokes but he did a good job on my eyes and I no longer need glasses.

  14. I concur, no surgical videos for me either. Would rather eat buttered popcorn.

  15. Big Brother is watching you. The folds in the fabric look like grotesque wrinkles in the skin. And I'm with you - no surgery videos. I had trouble dissecting the frog in high school.

  16. Hi There, Just stopping by to say HI.... Hope you had a great Valentine's Day. We had a great trip--but it's nice to get home. I'm trying to catch up on some blog posts...

I couldn't watch eye surgery either.. Of course, I could never be a doctor or nurse since I'm squeamish about all of that stuff... ha
